LATVIA UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE
Latvia University of Agriculture (LLU) was founded in 1939 and its oldest faculty is the Faculty of Agriculture, founded in 1863, which has close cooperation with many universities abroad. LLU has been a rapidly growing institution in the time period since Latvia regained its independence.
There are 9 faculties in the university: Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Food Technology, Rural Engineering, Forest, Information Technologies, Economics and Social Sciences.
73 bachelor, master and doctoral study programmes are provided by 304 lecturers and researchers for 6108 students in 2010/2011.
The university has 5 branches in Laidze, Kandava, Limbazi, Smiltene and Sigulda, 5 training and research centers in Vecauce, Ozolnieki, Engure, Vaive and Peterlauki, 4 scientific institutes in Jelgava, Ulbroka, Sigulda and Skriveri.
There is international cooperation based on 80 cooperation agreements signed together with 21 European higher education institutions.
Museum of the university welcomes to see History of Jelgava Palace and History of Latvia University of Agriculture expositions.
The cultural environment of the university is actively formed and explored in traditional and unique events.
There is also wide range of sports opportunities available for the university students and employees.
